How to get your quilt ready for the longarm

  • Double check that all seams are stitched especially around the edge of the quilt.
  • Give the quilt a good ironing and trim threads.
  • Mark the top of your quilt and backing if you have a preference.
  • Backing fabric needs to be 5 inches larger on all sides. For example, if your quilt top is 60 in square the backing should be 70 in square. Quilt-N-Code has a variety of 108in backing fabrics making it easier to get your backing fabric ready.
  • Quilt-N-Code has Warm and Natural Batting which is 100% cotton and Hobbs Batting which is 80% cotton and 20% polyester giving the Hobbs just a little more loft.
  • If you used fabric purchased at Walmart, JoAnn’s, etc., please make sure that you prewashed the fabric because it is known for severe shrinking, fading, and fraying.
  • Are there any special instructions, such as:

Are there any fabrics or places on the quilt that you don’t want quilted?

If using photo fabric, was it treated to tolerate steam iron?

Estimated costs are based on the square inch measurement of the quilt top.
